Dr. Meena McCullough's Story

As a dancer, 14 year sports physical therapist & 15 year chronic pain sufferer, I’ve dedicated my life to helping others move with freedom, strength, and purpose. My story is rooted in years of performance, injury, discovery—and a breakthrough method that’s helping dancers reconnect with their bodies in powerful new ways.

From 100-Mile Bike Rides to Barely Standing

In her early twenties, Dr. Meena was highly active and regularly completed long-distance bike rides.

Then pain began spreading throughout her body.

By 25, there were days when standing long enough to brush her teeth felt difficult.

She was diagnosed with fibromyalgia, lupus, and Lyme disease, but still felt like she was missing the bigger picture.

Why was this happening — and what could she actually do about it?

Graduation Struggles

Her own experience with pain helped lead Dr. Meena into physical therapy.

But even while earning her Doctorate in Physical Therapy, she continued struggling with symptoms.

By graduation, pain in her hips and legs was so intense that she attended the ceremony in slippers.

She understood muscles, joints, and rehabilitation.

But she still felt like something was missing.

Discovering Fascia

A turning point came when another physical therapist used a fascia-based technique on Dr. Meena.

The change she felt made her question why fascia had received so little attention in her formal education.

She began studying fascia more deeply and started viewing the body less as isolated parts and more as one connected system.

That perspective helped her begin connecting the dots in her own body.

Creating PressEX™

Dr. Meena wanted a practical way to work with fascia outside the clinic.

So she began experimenting with pressure, movement, and homemade prototypes.

Those experiments became the foundation of PressEX — Pressure Exercise.

What began as a personal solution eventually became a system she could use to help others.

She built the tools she wished she had when she was struggling herself.

Renewed Life and Dance

As her body improved, Dr. Meena returned to something she loved: dance.

She progressed from salsa to ballroom and eventually competed in International Latin dance.

Years earlier, standing long enough to brush her teeth had been difficult.

Now she was dancing and competing.

For her, movement became about getting life back.

2021

Patenting PressEX™

Dr. Meena continued refining PressEX with help from her team and engineer Dat Vo.

She learned about product development, 3D printing, and manufacturing along the way.

In 2021, the PressEX Bar was patented.

What began as a personal experiment had grown into a larger system.

Naming the Company and Method

From Dr. McCullough's journey with investigating pain, fascia, athletics, and training her own body, she came up with the name Body Spring.

This concept is based on 'elastic recoil,' where the body stores and releases energy like a spring. She realized that training the body like a spring requires freeing up space and tension in tissues for joint alignment. Managing the body's internal pressure system is what allows it to act like a spring, leading to the development of PressEX, or Pressure Exercise.

Academic Contributions

At the University of North Texas Health Science Center, Dr. Meena explored fascia in the cadaver lab and lectured PT students about its importance. This filled a crucial gap in their education. Sharing her knowledge became a passion. She aimed to elevate the understanding of fascia in physical therapy, reflecting the mission of Body Spring.

Transforming Lives with PressEX™

In her practice, Dr. Meena used PressEX to deliver instant pain relief and improve biomechanics. Clients became raving fans, and patient Nancy Mulhern became the coordinator at Body Spring. Their testimonials validated the impact of PressEX. It was fulfilling for Dr. Meena to see lives transformed through Body Spring.

Partnership and Research

Body Spring is embarking on its next phase by partnering with the University of North Texas Health Science Center's Biomechanical department. Together, they will conduct a pilot study on one of Body Spring's foot-to-hip PressEX protocols.

This protocol is based on the science of Myofascial Force Transmission, where healthy tension created in one area of the body biomechanically influences another, aligning joints deep in the connective tissue fascia.

Body Spring services are wellness, movement education, and coaching programs. They are not physical therapy, medical treatment, or clinical rehabilitation services. Dr. Meena McCullough holds a Doctor of Physical Therapy license and brings that knowledge and expertise to her coaching and education work, however sessions at Body Spring are not conducted as physical therapy services and do not constitute a physical therapy provider-patient relationship. Individual results may vary. Testimonials represent personal experiences and not guaranteed outcomes. Body Spring programs are not a substitute for professional medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. Please consult your healthcare provider before beginning any new movement or wellness program.
